Aidan Ip
Violinist Aidan Ip joins the Oregon Symphony for their 2025-26 season. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Aidan began his orchestral career as a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. His love for music has since led him to study at various institutions during the summer months, including the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Aidan recently traveled to Germany with members of the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra for Shostakovich Festival Leipzig, an unprecedented examination of the works of Dmitri Shostakovich performed in the Leipzig Gewandhaus. Prior to his appointment at the Oregon Symphony, Aidan served as assistant principal second violin at the Cape Symphony in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
A passionate chamber musician, Aidan has been coached by members of acclaimed ensembles including the Emerson, Pacifica, Tokyo, Takács, and Vermeer quartets. He has also performed in masterclasses for prominent violinists including James Ehnes, Jennifer Koh, Vadim Repin, and Nathan Cole. In 2023, he made his Carnegie Hall debut performing solo works of Bach and Ysaÿe. His most recent solo appearance was with the Apollo Ensemble of Boston.
Aidan holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan, and a Master's from New England Conservatory. His previous mentors include Danielle Belen and Ayano Ninomiya. Aidan plays a violin made in 1774 by Tomaso Eberle.
